Sarah says, &#8220;The\u00a0goal of the event is to garner student ideas and input on how to improve campus life because there\u2019s no one more qualified to know student needs than students themselves.&#8221; Last year 30 teams and individuals entered Shark Tank. Ten of those teams moved on to the final round in front of the judges, students and faculty.<\/p>\n<p>Grove City Shark Tank is based off of the television show Shark\u00a0Tank which gives startup companies an opportunity to receive\u00a0venture capitalist funding from\u00a0big name successful businessmen, such as Mark Cuban, Kevin O&#8217;Leary, Daymond John and others, in exchange for equity in their\u00a0company.\u00a0In\u00a0Grove City&#8217;s version of\u00a0Shark Tank the students are competing for funding for their idea for campus improvement of $1,000 and personal cash prizes for the top three ideas. These cash prizes are $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third with an additional $50 bonus for whichever team\u00a0is the crowd favorite.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.gcc.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1003\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1003 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.gcc.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n.jpg\" alt=\"1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n\" width=\"960\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.gcc.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/blogs.gcc.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.gcc.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.gcc.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/1911884_10153141351551182_1660564241812819771_n-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The winning idea, a campus improvement or event with $1,000, is put into effect! Last year the winning pitch was to purchase Spikeball sets to start an intramural league on campus, kicking it off with a large scale tournament last fall semester.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Shark Tank is on March 11. Grove City Shark Tank is taking the Grove by storm&#8230; or is it by sea? Anyways, the event is worth competing in and definitely\u00a0worth attending.\u00a0Grove City Shark Tank is growing this year\u00a0by a considerable amount and more ideas are continuing to be entered.
