The last two weekends at Grove City College have been filled with student events and activities.
On March 4-5 students watched their peers perform in two spring plays The Diviners and The Women of Lockerbie. The powerful shows were performed from March 2-5 and addressed issues such as poverty, family, tragedy, and much more. Students also saw Tom Coverly: The Illusionist in Crawford Auditorium. All proceeds benefited Save the Storks. Editor’s Note: Save the Storks is an organization that purchases and operates mobile ultrasound machines. For more information: https://www.savethestorks.com/
Just as full, March 11-12 had a myriad of events. There was a women’s lacrosse tournament on Thorn Field where the Wolverines went undefeated in 3 games, including a double header on Saturday. Student Government Association sponsored Shark Tank took place in Sticht Lecture Hall. Students presented ideas to benefit our campus. The winners of Shark Tank, Elaina Kimple and Larry Thompson, won $1,000 to start a cooking class at Grove City. They plan to partner with Bon Appétit to start this initiative. Later Friday night Omicron Xi fraternity and Alpha Beta Tau sorority hosted their annual midnight pancake breakfast. Students purchased breakfast and listen to their peers perform in a relaxed and fun environment. The proceeds of the pancake breakfast benefitted the Syrian Refugee Fund. Saturday night students could attend the Mr. Engineering pageant, where the great minds of campus could showcase their personalities and talents.
Overall it’s been a busy March at Grove City. By the looks of it, April seems to be just as packed with activities on and off campus every weekend. Stay tuned for the rest of March and the coming months.
Student author Maddy Moser is a sophomore from Naperville, IL with a Communication Studies major. When asked about her favorite thing at Grove City College she said: “The people here are some of the most genuine I have ever met! GCC really earned it’s #19 spot on the list of Friendist Colleges! In just a few short months I met people that I know I will be friends with for long after our time at Grove City!”
