The weekend kicked off early Friday afternoon with a lecture by President McNulty on the candidates of the 2016 presidential election. Having years of experience in Washington, Mr. McNulty provided interesting commentary on both party’s candidates. Later that evening Student Government Association hosted Laser Tag in the Intramural Sports room. Students were encouraged to sign up throughout the week in the Student Union, but could also walk in. Thanks to SGA, the event was free for all students!
Saturday was busy all around campus. The buzz of Admitted Students Day set the energy for numerous campus events. The men’s club volleyball team had an all-day tournament, the KAPs (Kappa Alpha Phi fraternity) and Phi Sigs (Phi Sigma Chi sorority) hosted the Green and White whiffle ball tournament, the baseball team played a double header against Westminster, and all of that led up to the main event of The Oh Hellos concert. Held in the packed Crawford Auditorium, The Gray Havens opened to an eager audience of GCC students and community members. The Oh Hellos performance was highly anticipated since DreamsGoLive and Stonebridge Concerts announced the event.
Closing out an already busy weekend was the final game of the NCAA March Madness tournament. Monday night students watched the UNC v. Villanova game eagerly, while munching on funnel cakes, chicken wings, fried Oreos, and cotton candy provided by Sigma Alpha Sigma fraternity. Sig Madness certainly was full of madness as the final two minutes of the game were determined by 3 pointers by both UNC and Villanova. Though UNC fans are still in denial of buzzer beating shot, all students are gearing up for the activities that next weekend has in store!
Student author Maddy Moser is a sophomore from Naperville, IL with a Communication Studies major. When asked about her favorite thing at Grove City College she said: “The people here are some of the most genuine I have ever met! GCC really earned it’s #19 spot on the list of Friendist Colleges! In just a few short months I met people that I know I will be friends with for long after our time at Grove City!”
