Will my credits transfer?

“Will my credits transfer?”  As either a transfer student or a high school student who has taken college level courses in high school, this may be a question you have wondered!  It is certainly one of the more common questions that we hear in the Admissions Office.

At Grove City College, the answer to this question is deeply rooted in our mission and pursuit of academic excellence.  The founders of the College had a vision to support students as they ask questions and seek answers through their studies.  Our rich academic tradition is part of what makes Grove City College the institution it is today!

“What does this history lesson have to do with transfer credits,” you ask?

Everything!  Because of our commitment to academic excellence, Grove City College wants to ensure that courses you’ve taken elsewhere prepare you for our classroom experience.  Transfer credits are evaluated on an individual basis and each course is submitted to the Chair of the corresponding Academic Department for evaluation.

If you have taken college level courses in high school or are currently enrolled at another college, there are a few things you’ll need to do in order to see if your classes will transfer.

  • Submit a copy of your transcript to the Grove City College Admissions Office – you can email it to transfers@gcc.edu (for credit evaluation purposes, an unofficial transcript is sufficient; however, you will need to submit an official one as part of your application process)
  • You may be asked to provide a copy of your course syllabus and other supporting documents
  • Familiarize yourself with Grove City College’s Transfer Credit Policy

As courses are evaluated, you will be in contact with a representative from the Admissions Office who will let you know if your classes are accepted or denied.

College courses are not the only types of transfer credits that are considered for Grove City College.  Perhaps you took an AP (Advanced Placement) course.  Or were a part of your school’s IB (International Baccalaureate) program. Information regarding how those credits may transfer into Grove City College can be found on our Registrar’s Website.

We would love to chat with you if you have questions pertaining to transfer credits.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Admissions Counselor with anything that you need!
