Grove City College Football Season Recap 2025: The End of Another Historical Season for GCC

Grove City College Football just finished its 2025 season campaign, ending with a final record of 8-3. The Wolverines’ season started with a tough win against the Cortland Red Dragons, who were nationally ranked at number ten in the country. With that being said, Grove City was off to a hot start and sparked high hopes for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, the next two games were rough and not in the Wolverines’ favor. They took two losses to the Division III powerhouse Mount Union and Washington and Jefferson.

The tough losses made the Wolverines turn their season around. Their record was 1-2 after the first three games of the year. They needed a big win streak to look forward to the postseason and hoped that was still achievable. The streak started at Geneva College in their night game with a big win for Grove City. The Wolverines went on to win the rest of the season and won seven straight games to end the regular season with an overall record of 8-2.

Grove City was selected as an at-large bid out of thirteen teams eligible for the bid in the NCAA Division III Playoffs this year. This was the third straight year for GCC Football to make the NCAA Playoffs and continue its historic run for a National Championship. Forty teams out of the 243 teams across Division III make the playoffs every year. It is not an easy task to qualify for them, especially for Grove City, a small private Christian College, making it three straight years in a row.

The Wolverines were selected to play against Hanover College, from the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference, in Hanover, Indiana. Grove City made the long trip to Hanover and was ready for round one of the NCAA Playoffs. For the class of 2025, this could be the last time they step on the field as a Wolverine, so the stakes were high. Sadly, the team suffered a loss that came down to the final seconds of the game. The Wolverines’ defense jumped offside on third down to give Hanover the last first down they needed to secure the win. It was a tough end to the season, but nothing to hang their head about, as all the accomplishments this team has are nothing short of impressive.

Looking back on this season, GCC is a seriously competitive team that has a lot of hope going into next season to continue the streak of postseason appearances. The senior class helped build this program to be a consistent national playoff contender. The 2025 Grove City College Football Season will go down in history. Finally, Grove City football will look to continue this streak and build a special run for a National Championship as the program continues to excel.
